Demos and Exhibitions provides an opportunity for on-site demonstrations of interactive works, and accepted submissions are published in the extended abstracts of the ACM Digital Library.
The Demos and Exhibitions track is a high-visibility, high-impact forum of the technical program that allows you to present hands-on demonstrations, share novel interactive technologies, and stage interactive experiences.
Demos and Exhibitions are planned as an in-person event with live demonstrations on-site at IH 2026 in Porto, Portugal. We encourage submissions from any area of interactive health, including, but not limited to, digital health and telemedicine, mobile health and wearables, human–AI interaction in healthcare, digital mental health, serious games and gamification for health, behavior change and persuasive technologies, self-tracking and digital biomarkers.
The track “Demos and Exhibitions” promotes and provokes discussion on novel technologies, and invites contributions from academia, technologies, and invites contributions from academia, industry, research, and startups. If you have an interesting prototype, device, system, performance, exhibit, or installation, we want to know about it!
As the Demos and Exhibitions track focuses on the in-person experience, it is allowed to submit work that has previously been presented as papers, as long as the demonstration adds a new and unique aspect to the experience. We do ask you to provide a publication history for previously published work and explain how the demo or exhibition would expand on it. ACM’s policy on Prior Publications and Simultaneous Submissions provides further guidance.
For those in need of travel support, SIGCHI offers the Gary Marsden Travel Awards, which support undergraduate and graduate students, early-career researchers (such as those who are ≤ 5 years post-graduation), and those suffering from financial hardship or lacking institutional support, in attending ACM SIGCHI conferences.
Before the submission deadline, you must submit 1) a non-anonymized article of up to 6-page (single column) length, detailing the work, 2) a walk-through video, 3) a promotional image, and 4) additional information detailing the requirements for the exhibit. All submissions should include all author names, affiliations, and contact information.
The following submissions components are due at submission:
Accepted submissions will be asked to provide the following additional components along with the publication-ready paper:
1. Paper manuscript
The paper manuscript should be up to 6 pages long in the ACM Master Article Submission Templates (single column, excluding references). It should clearly describe the novelty and distinguishing ideas of your project, even for readers who are not able to view the related demonstration at the conference or associated videos.
Your paper should include:
Authors must make their submissions (paper & video) accessible using recommendations found in the Guide to an Accessible Submission.
Upon acceptance, during the TAPS process, your submission will be converted to a double-column format. The page limit only applies to the submitted 6-page single column paper, the length of the converted double-column paper is flexible.
2. Walkthrough video
A video is the optimal medium to communicate your demo or exhibition to the reviewers. You must submit a walkthrough video in addition to your written documentation. The video can be no longer than 5 minutes and all uploaded content (PDF(s) + image + video) needs to fit within the overall submission size of 250 MB. Videos must also be made accessible and properly encoded. Submitted videos will be used for review purposes and are not published, but you will have an opportunity to revise and submit videos for inclusion in the ACM Digital Library if accepted. Be sure to have permission for all content, and use rights-free music tracks.
3. Still image
You are required to upload a still image of at least 1500 x 1200 px that represents your work, and a suitable image description. The image may be used for publications and conference publicity.
All submission metadata, including required fields in PCS like author names, affiliations, and order, must be complete and correct by the submission deadline. This information is crucial to the integrity of the review process and author representation. No changes to metadata after this deadline will be allowed.
Authors are strongly encouraged to work on improving the accessibility of their submissions before peer review begins, using recommendations found in the Guide to an Accessible Submission for their paper. For any questions or concerns about creating accessible submissions, please contact the Accessibility Chairs at accessibility2026@ih.acm.org.
Demos and Exhibitions will be Reviewed by the co-chairs. Note that due to the short turn-around time, you will not receive formal feedback on your submission other than the acceptance decision. Our intention is to ensure that the Demos and Exhibitions track is exciting, while representing a range of projects being undertaken across diverse IH communities. The selection will also take into account feasibility, available space at the conference, and other relevant information. Submissions should not contain sensitive, private, or proprietary information that cannot be disclosed at publication time. Submissions should NOT be anonymous. However, confidentiality of submissions will be maintained during the selection process. All rejected submissions will be kept confidential in perpetuity.
Authors of accepted submissions will receive instructions on how to prepare and submit the publication-ready version, and details on the presentation and scheduling of demonstrations at the conference. All authors must use the instructions for accessible PDFs to make the final generated PDF accessible. Videos must also be made accessible through the inclusion of captions in final submission.
For specific template instructions for the publication ready version of your submissions, see the Publication Formats page.
If accepted to the on-site Demos and Exhibitions, you will be assigned a dedicated space in the exhibition hall at IH 2026. We will provide more details on logistics including the presentation days and the exact floor plan closer to the conference.
Should your demonstration collect data, please be aware that GDPR applies.
Accepted Interactivities papers and videos are distributed in the IH Conference Extended Abstracts in the ACM Digital Library.
Starting January 1, 2026, ACM will fully transition to Open Access. All ACM publications, including those from ACM-sponsored conferences, will be 100% Open Access. Authors will have two primary options for publishing Open Access articles with ACM: the ACM Open institutional model or by paying Article Processing Charges (APCs). With over 1,800 institutions already part of ACM Open, the majority of ACM-sponsored conference papers will not require APCs from authors or conferences (currently, around 70-75%).
All submissions for the IH ’26 conference are not APC-eligible (i.e., they will not incur article processing charges).
