Overview
IH ‘26 will use the ACM Primary Article Templates and ACM TAPS Publication Workflow for publication. This ACM page provides a rationale behind this choice.
- We will be using The ACM Publication System (TAPS) process.
- The correct template for initial submissions is one of:
- 1-column Word Submission Template (acm_submission_template.docx)
- 1-column LaTeX (also on Overleaf). Please note that the default template is set for 2-column and needs to be manually changed to 1-column for initial review using the option shown below ‘)
- For an anonymous submission, use: \documentclass[manuscript,review,anonymous]{acmart}
- For all others, use: \documentclass[manuscript,review]{acmart}
- The correct template for publication (i.e., after conditional acceptance) in the DL is one of:
- 1-column Word Submission Template* (same as for the initial submission)
- 1- or 2-column LaTeX template* using \documentclass[sigconf]{acmart}. Please note that using the “sigconf” option converts the template into the final 2-column format. Authors should check the placement of figures, tables, and other elements before submitting the source file for final publication. Page and word limits are found in the track instructions and the specific call for participation.
- * Please note that, after TAPS processing, all submissions will be formatted in alignment with ACM’s standard conference proceedings template in a 2-column format.
IH ‘26 Proceedings Formats
We will follow the workflow defined by the ACM, so please read the instructions on the ACM TAPS workflow page carefully. The ACM workflow requests authors to produce final publications (PDF and HTML5) by themselves using TAPS.
First, authors prepare their manuscript in the designated 1-column format in PDF using LaTeX or Word. LaTeX users should use \documentclass[manuscript,review]{acmart}. For an anonymous submission use \documentclass[manuscript,review,anonymous]{acmart} to automatically replace the authors for “ANONYMOUS AUTHOR(S)”.
Next, authors submit the PDF and the source files via PCS. Reviewers will review submissions in the 1-column format. Please follow the instructions in the respective call for participation regarding page and word limits. Reviewers will be instructed to weigh the contribution of a submission relative to its length. Redundant or verbose writing is strongly discouraged.
Upon conditional acceptance, authors revise the manuscript and submit publication-ready source files to PCS. Further instructions are presented on the Publication-ready Author Instructions page (link TBA).
Citation Style
Authors can find the guidelines for citation style at the following link: ACM Reference Formatting.
For Word users utilizing citation management software like Zotero, select the “ACM SIGCHI Proceedings” option under Citation Style (see the example below).

Accessibility
The CHI conference committee requests that authors ensure basic accessibility of their submissions. Please refer to the Guide to an Accessible Submission for more details.
